Kinky Twists and Faux Locs

Image
I've bin rocking kinky twists for a while, then turned them into faux locs The faux locs process took me 2.5 hrs. This is the tutorial I followed to achieve the look Not bad for my first try Hope everyone is doing well Blessings J

Braided Back- Set it Off style :D

Image
I'm all about spur of the moment hair decisions, some better than others...this one, I don't know! I decided to get my hair braided (set it off style) at the African hair Salon. The process was quick and hassle free. Just what I wanted. A protective style that takes no time to achieve. I would admit, the look is still growing on me though. Video Blessings J

Dry Bar

Image
A couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to blow out my natural hair...just for a change. I did some research on 'Dry Barr' Salon (Upper East Side Location) and liked what  I heard and saw so I decided to try them out. Loved the results! I have nothing bad to say about this place They served drinks, were friendly, on time, organized and they even gave out free umbrellas ( it was raining that day) Pin Curls (next day, by me) I will be returning!! My stylist Instagram~ @mustluvhair Also, yesterday I got my ends trimmed at a dominican salon in my neighborhood. They needed it badly Blessings

Semi Fro Hawk and Bantu

Absolutely loved how this turned out. It was inspired by the lovely Kim ( thechicnatural ) on You Tube  ~ 2nd day hair~ (It looks even better in person) Check out the video Blessings J

First Wash and Go

Image
I did my first wash and go 3 weeks post big chop. I think i'm late. I feel like that's the first thing I should of done. Anyway, it was a success! My hair was conditioned and I used a little castor oil in my thin areas (left side of my head. I plan on putting castor oil every other that in that section). I massaged a generous amount of pure coconut oil in my scalp and hair. I then proceeded to part my hair into small sections, spray with water and massage the eco style oil in. Didn't check to see how long the process took me (not too long nor short), but it took forever to dry. I was finished at 4.30 pm and at 8.30 pm my hair was about 60% dry. The next morning, the middle was still damp. Its probably better to do this on a warm day but my hair was completely white when I was finished. There goes the wash and GO! Couldn't go anywhere if I wanted to looking like that lol Ok so these pics were taken the night of the first day. This is second day ...

The Blow Out~~ Natural Hair

Image
I blame Ms Vaughn for this!! lol Check out her video here to see how pretty her blow out is. A couple months ago I told myself " no more heat"... well I lied *sigh* I love the length I get when my hair is stretched, but I have to wait two days after my wash to achieve a fully stretch look, so out came the blow dryer. 1. My hair was washed and conditioned...I also deep conditioned for an hour. I detangled with my regular leave in conditioner of the moment (Cantu Shea Butter leave in) 2. I applied the treseme heat protectant to my hair section by section and blow dried tension method (as seen in Ms Vaughn's video) 3. Lastly I applied some Olive Oil to the hair and twisted (mainly to keep the finished sections out of the way) The results :) Day of ~ before the flat twists The next day~ post flat twists :) 2nd day Best blow out results since I've bin loose natural (I always say loose natural because I had locs before, which is also ...

Flexi Rod Set- Natural Hair

Image
Can it please stop raining!! Now that its getting warmer, I want to rock my hair out and try different styles.  *sigh* Oh well, I just went for it. Rain or shine I was gonna get my flexi rod set ON. ~I co washed my hair with Suave Naturals Conditioner ~ De-tangled with Cantu leave in and a little Olive Oil (not pictured) ~ Applied African Pride curling pudding (New) & a little Olive oil Gel (not pictured) ~ Slept on it. OUCH The Next Day What do you think about the look? I happen to like the outcome very much, but surly may hair reverted in the rain :/ (next time I will use a size smaller than the orange rods for the back) (I had to blow dry the back a bit the next day) Check out the video down below :) Blessings J

Scarfed up & (inspired) Upcycle Tee

Image
Yes, I know I need to invest in a few more scarves. I love this one though...perfect colors that go with a lot of my clothing... Anyway, here are 3 simple looks you can try with your scarf on your bad (or good) hair days... Also I was inspired by AndreasChoice recent upcycle old t shirt video to try a few things with my clothing. I bought this tee at KMart on sale. It was long sleeve and longer in length. I cut the sleeve and cropped the bottom, but that wasn't enough. I think it looks a little more 'fun' now!! I just love DIY projects Check out Andrea's Video I'm on tumblr :) Jayrcee.tumblr.com My Outfits & Hair vid Blessings J

HAIR: Ninja Bun

Image
Here is my attempt at the ninja bun ...you know, the bun (top knot) all the way to the tip of your head (some, touching the forehead)? Yes, that bun. Well, I didn't really try, it was a messy quick "eh if it looks good it looks good" type deal. So yeah, I could have done a better job at it :D I personally don't like my buns neat, smooth and perfect looking, and with this look it doesn't have to be...well that's what I told myself. What do you think about this hair style? Would you rock  it? Btw I'm back on tumblr jayrcee.tumblr.com Blessings J

HAIR: The Blow Out- Update

Image
It's bin 5 days since I blew my hair out (well, when I took these pics) Did you check the vid ?? Go on, do it now. Well, I gotta say... I was loving the shit out of it :D Girl, YES! lol I really liked the length mostly... among other things. I can't wait until my hair gets to this lenth without stretching...wow. I had so much fun with it last Friday night. Believe it or not, it was the first time I could truly say "big hair don't care" LOL Saturday morning hair- corn/cane row out The only down-sides are, after a couple days my hair took on the... heat burn smell :/ I know, not good. I'm hoping I don't have heat damage because got damb it, the setting was low!! *sucks teeth* (UPDATE: A little heat damage, but nothing some deep conditioning treatments can't fix) Also, it's bin either raining or ice dropping (lol) since I did my hair!! (still is) Gosh, can a girl show off her first  successful blow out in peace?! Chec...

HAIR: Temporary Fushia

Image
More like temporary fail... :/ Well... hair before dye job I applied color on wet shampooed hair I let sit- in room temperature (did not cover with a cap)- for 35-40 minutes. Directions said 20 but since I have natural hair, I decided to stay a little longer. I rinsed, conditioned twice, de -tangled with usual products & put into jumbo plaits/braids Hmmm not liking the look that much. Maybe it will grow on me? Check out my youtube video for a better look at the results Blessings J

HAIR: Twists Update (pics)

Image
One week in Since braiding the hair on Monday Oct 29th I did the front/top/sides over twice lol Before After/Now I bought more hair and added to the front. I also did the twist from the root. It took a lot of practice but I got it! I highly recommend when braiding the front to leave out your baby hair. If you don't, you might lose them with all the pulling :( Check out my update vid to see how I tie my hair for sleep and shower :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpJmbGjydv8 BLOOM Blessings J
