Let's Learn from Relaxer Mistakes
Hey J readers
I've bin through this relaxer phase
about 8 times in life lol
I'm always switching between relaxer
and my natural hair.
During the years I've learned a lot
both from youtube and real life.
Recently I've had a major setback during
this relaxer journey.
These are the mistakes I made that could
probably help someone.
1. Itchy scalp
After washing my hair I noticed I was very itchy
but I still proceed to get the relaxer.
Bad idea.
Basing my hair 4 times, yes 4 times, did not help.
MY ADVICE, wash your hair again!
Wait it out. Make sure your scalp is healthy
before moving forward.
2. Wait wait wait.
I got a relaxer 3 days after getting my hair washed
and on an itchy scalp.
Bad idea.
Get a relaxer at least 1 week after washing your hair.
3.Wait for the burn
Nah. Wrong move.
Do not wait until your relaxer is itching or burning
your scalp before you wash it out.
MY ADVICE, put a timer on your relaxer and
wash it out regardless.
"Is it straight?" Maybe not, but a healthy
scalp is more important.
4.The One Wash
Girrrlll.
Use a nutralizing shampoo to wash out your relaxer.
ALWAYS ALWAYS shampoo your hair at least twice
after a relaxer.
My aunt, a professional hair dresser failed to
do this, therefore I believe relaxer
was still lingering in my hair.
5. Pin Straight
Its honestly ok if your roots are not pin straight.
Most, if not all of the relaxed hair women
with long hair that I follow on Instagram/youtube
(@ hailicious) DO NOT relax pin straight.
Is there something to it related to hair growth?
Not sure, but just saying...
Going forward, I will be going to a salon
for my relaxers (IF I decide to continue getting
relaxers) OR do it myself at home.
What's your thoughts on relaxers??
All Love
J
